Aueco annual conferences

Each year, a predetermined university (or system of cooperating institutions) partners with the AUECO Executive Board to plan and host the Conference on the Impact of Export Controls on Higher Education and Scientific Institutions (or the "AUECO Annual Conference"). These conferences are planned and produced for the benefit of the entire AUECO membership and include selected guest speakers, vendors, and other approved invitees.

The AUECO Annual Conference is a time of learning, fellowship, networking, and benchmarking for our colleagues, peers, and members of export control professionals throughout the U.S. Typically, a different state/site hosts the Annual Conference each year, exposing the membership to a broad array of colleagues, schools, and ideologies.

4-day conference agenda

  • Day 1 -
    • Annual conferences begin with a series of Workshops on the first day. These sessions are typically geared toward the educational comfort level of the participants - beginner, intermediate, and advanced offerings.
    • At the conclusion of the first day Workshops, it is common for a vendor or specific school to host a Welcome Reception.
  • Day 2 & 3 -
    • The second and third days of the conference are for the Plenary Sessions. These sessions expose membership to a plethora of various topics, concerns, and issues as relate to export controls, updates in the field, new processes, best practices, and guest speakers.
    • At the conclusion of the first day of Plenary Sessions, it is common for an additional hosted or sponsored Networking Reception to take place where members are encouraged to meet one another and establish a community of working colleagues and peers across the nation.
  • Day 4 -
    • The final day of the conference is reserved for the Annual AUECO Membership Meeting, to which only AUECO Members are allowed. Vendors, invited guest speakers, government participants and others are not able to access this closed-door meeting.
    • It is during the Membership Meeting that the AUECO Board and its various committees discuss the current state of the association, the future state and what is coming in the next year, an open floor for membership FAQs, as well as a changing-of-the-guard wherein members welcome the incoming board members and voice appreciation to our outgoing board members, many of whom have served anywhere from 1-3 years on the board!
