In this roundtable, Presenters from the AUECO eXport Essentials Committee will lead the discussion by speaking about their transitions from Federal, Corporate, and Private sectors to lead export compliance programs at their respective institutions. The discussion will center around the challenges and lessons learned from these sectors and how they’ve been applied in the academic setting.

Presenters:
Christos Linardakis Interim Director, Export Control Program Bio: Christos is the Interim Director, Export Control Program, with Carnegie Mellon University. In this position, he supports various schools and departments within CMU, including the premier National Robotics and Engineering Center, the Software Engineering Institute (an FFRDC), along with the College of Sciences, Neuroscience Institute, amongst others. He is a licensed attorney with over 30 years of practical experience in industry, including establishing corporate-university export control programs.

Now, at the University of South Florida, Fred continues to apply his expertise to safeguard the institution's research and maintain compliance with export control regulations and research security.

Bio: Fred is currently serving as the Export Control Officer at the University of South Florida. With over 20 years of service as a federal investigator, Fred has experience in law enforcement, particularly in leading counterintelligence and cyber efforts. Now, at the University of South Florida, Fred continues to apply his expertise to safeguard the institution's research and maintain compliance with export control regulations and research security.
Liz Kane Export Control Officer Bio: Liz serves as the Export Control Officer for Johns Hopkins University, where she is responsible for institutional compliance with export control laws and U.S. sanctions regulations. Liz is a licensed attorney and, prior to joining Johns Hopkins in her current capacity, previously spent over a decade working as a products liability and mass torts litigation attorney. Liz also currently serves as the Chair of the AUECO eXport Essentials committee.
